Halfway Done

Reading young adult books is another one of my favorite past times. I greatly appreciate fiction books especially when the story is about kids getting in out of the world situations.

I am halfway done in reading 'The Mysterious Benedict Society'. I started reading this book last year. After reading some chapters, I abandoned it because of the need of time for studying and of course time for my organizations. I went back into reading just this Friday, November 4. Maybe because I don't have anything to do for now so I went back to my book. As I read 'The Mysterious Benedict Society,' I imagine myself in their own shoes. The scenes were popping out into my mind as if it is all real. I really like to picture things out when reading books. In that way, I  enjoy it and at the same time I understand what was going on in the story.

Try reading and imagining at the same time. It is fun especially when the story is full of mysteries and adventure.

The Magical Book of JAMworks

This is one of my best works and I call this "The Magical Book of JAMworks." I created this masterpiece exactly one year ago (November 4, 2010). This project is done for more than five hours.

I am very thankful to God for giving me such talent.

Like my page on Facebook: JAMworks.

3 Hours Well Spent

This day is a very special day. I went out with my friend Ralph. We haven't seen each other for months but we stay connected over the phone and Facebook.

I could say that it is a 3 hours well spent. We talked, watched Puss in Boots in 3D, etc.

To Ralph: Thank you for the gift! I will treasure every moment we spent together. You are a special friend. :)

Hands On!

This morning, I thought of various things to keep my boredom away. I resorted in designing a shirt.

I don't like Snoopy that much but he is one of the characters which is easy to draw. I am not that much of an artist by hand so I don't expect perfect results. I just enjoy drawing and painting.

Here are some pictures of the final product.

Generation Gaps

People today value education. Education is something that you could treasure for young and old.
A good and proper education is what parents hope to provide to their children. Some parents are stiff to the notion that high levels of achievement will lead to a better future. This statement may be true, but it may also be wrong.
Parental pressure could create disconnected and unhappy kids. Children in well-off families are more likely to be emotionally distant from their parents. The pressure they obtain from parents' high expectations make a toxic environment for some. These influences may create intense feelings of hopelessness for the children.
We don't want to see a world of pessimistic and hopeless youth. Don't let the pressure be the gap between the parents and their children. Let this be a warning for all.

The Winning Piece

The Official CEAT Centennial Logo

I am the very proud designer of the CEAT Centennial Logo. This winning piece is one of my greatest achievements. I did not expect to win the logo making contest. But the simplicity and content of my work surely won. I remember the day I thought of the concept. I drew the logo from scratch. After putting the components together, I opened Adobe Photoshop CS5 and placed the components one-by-one. Added effects and done!

The components of the logo are the following:
The gear represents engineering and technology as a whole.
When the teeth of the gear are removed, it shows a steering wheels that represents a continuous drive.
The oblation symbolizes excellence.
The number 1 in 100 is an arrow directing upwards that symbolizes improvement.
The colors maroon and green represents the university that molds every person involved in CEAT-UPLB.
The color yellow represents aspiration towards a brighter future.

Breakfast is Served

Cooking is one of my favorite past times. Mixing ingredients available in our home and producing an innovative dish. Out of boredom I rushed into our kitchen to start my day right.

This morning I cooked an omelet patty composed of eggs, ham, potatoes, herbs and spices. The original plan was just a plain egg and ham for breakfast. I browsed our refrigerator and pantry to find more ingredients. I cooked the omelet patty in a low-medium fire flipping it occasionally. After placing the omelet patties on the plate, I placed a small amount of light mayo at the sides and added rosemary at the top of the plate.

Protection May Lead to Destruction

Parents these days won't let any harm to their children. They tend to be over protective. For some reasons, it is very much appreciated because in that manner they show how much they love their children.
There is a question meddling in my mind lately. Does the protection parents give to their children really protects them? My opinion is that the protection parents give does not really protect the children. Rather, they put these kids in a more dangerous zone. A zone of great destruction. Children who grew up with a very comfortable lifestyle tend to be less grit. What I meant is that they got lesser chances of become strong willed persons. They might grew intelligent in books, but they may not be ready to face the real world on their own.
Come think of these things and evaluate what is better for the children today.
